Lesson 10 โ€” A Special Invitation

๐Ÿ“–Part 1: The Theatre Trip

It's Monday afternoon. School is over. Peter, Amy, Alejandro, and Mishiko are walking to the school gate. "What are you doing this weekend?" asks Amy. "I'm playing video games on Saturday," says Peter. "I'm visiting my grandmother," says Mishiko. Suddenly, Mr. Parker calls them. "Wait! I have exciting news!" The students stop and turn around. "This Saturday, our class is going to the theatre!" says Mr. Parker. "The theatre? What's that?" asks Peter. "It's a place where actors perform shows on a stage," explains Mr. Parker. "Like a movie?" asks Mishiko. "No, it's live! Real people are performing in front of you," says Mr. Parker. "What show are we watching?" asks Alejandro. "It's a musical called 'Reaching for the Stars.' It's about four performers in a talent contest," says Mr. Parker. "Is it in English?" asks Mishiko nervously. "Yes, but don't worry. There are subtitles," says Mr. Parker. "What are the performers doing in the show?" asks Peter. "They're singing, dancing, and showing their talents," says Mr. Parker. "What time are we going?" asks Alejandro. "We're meeting at the school at 10:00 on Saturday morning. The show starts at 11:00," says Mr. Parker. The students walk home together, talking about Saturday. "What are you wearing to the theatre?" asks Amy. "I'm wearing my nice dress," says Amy. "I'm wearing jeans and a shirt," says Peter. "I'm wearing my black pants and a jacket," says Alejandro. "I'm looking forward to Saturday!" says Mishiko.
