Cyrillic

The Cyrillic alphabet is used by Russian and several other languages.

Different languages use slightly different versions of the script.

Overview

The Russian Cyrillic alphabet has 33 letters.

It includes vowels, consonants, and two special signs.

Letters that look familiar

Some Cyrillic letters look like Latin letters, such as А, К, М, О and Т.

But some letters look familiar while sounding different, such as В, Н, Р, С and У.

Differences between languages

Russian, Ukrainian, Bulgarian and Serbian all use Cyrillic, but not exactly the same alphabet.

Some letters are shared by all, while others are specific to certain languages.
