Two ways to explore a language

Polyglote supports two complementary methods: one for new language learners who want to build a first solid level, and one for learners who already know languages and want to move faster through comparison.

Method 1

Build the language

This method is designed for beginners and new language learners. Its goal is to bring you to a basic A1+ level and give you the tools to enjoy learning the language further.

It starts by showing similarities first, so you can see that you already know more than you think. International Word Families reveal familiar patterns and shared vocabulary before formal study even begins.

Then you can follow the lessons, read and practice basic sentences, and build your vocabulary progressively. One of the strongest motivators in language learning is to feel your progress. In the logged version of the site, this will be reflected through vocabulary tracking and word counters.

Method 2

Transform between languages

This method is for learners who already speak one or several languages and are looking for ways to learn faster, or to learn languages in groups through their similarities and differences.

Instead of learning everything from zero, you use languages you already know as bridges. Shared vocabulary, comparable grammar, and recurring structural patterns allow you to transform one language into another.

The free version of Polyglote can already showcase this comparative approach. The full version can later offer more powerful tools designed specifically for accelerated comparative learning.

Why use Polyglote

Polyglote is designed for exploration, comparison, and structured understanding.

Open structure

Move freely between sections instead of following one locked path.

Multiple entry points

Start from words, from sentences, from grammar, or from lessons.

Language comparison

Compare languages and notice patterns instead of memorizing blindly.

Linguistic curiosity

Explore languages as systems, not only as sets of exercises.

Languages are connected

Many languages share families of words that make transformation easier. Patterns such as -tion, -ism, -ist, and -ic create bridges across languages and help learners recognize meaning faster.

Polyglote introduces these shared patterns as part of a broader approach to language comparison and exploration.
